I guess it goes without saying that by the time we get to the weekends, we have a lot of catching up to do. Our sleep debt is one thing we usually can only repay (in installments) on Saturday and Sunday, along with family time, hobbies along with our favorite TV shows and movies, and so on. And then, there’s exercise of course. I mean, that’s one thing we’re not supposed to forget, right?

Getting enough exercise is doubly important if you’re bound to a desk for most of the weekdays, but can also be beneficial for those of us actively moving throughout the day.

Now, while just about any sort of physical activity can be good for us, a weekend exercise routine needs to be both beneficial and fun. So, why don’t we take a look at some of the best weekend-workout options:

Jogging or running is quite easy. A lot of people even find that they can think (and plan or come up with new ideas) better while running. Need some socialization in the mix? Join a runners club.

Cycling can also be as fun as jogging, but you might want to pay attention to traffic instead of thinking about next week’s presentation. Riding together, however, is a great way to bond with friends and colleagues.

Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise. It’s a low impact workout where you move all your major muscle groups. It also help you cool down on hot days.

Weight training is a good way to build your core strength, and can feel exhilarating when done correctly. For this one, a professional trainer is highly recommended.

Team sports can be fun, even for those who don’t really know how to play, and are also perfect for socializing, networking, and team-building. There’s indoor soccer (you don’t need to be a boy to enjoy kicking a ball around, right?), softball (if you can find a field), badminton (is this a team sport?), and so on.
