When you’re out of town on assignment or if you’re vacationing to somewhere remote where the nearest department store is several hours away, suddenly finding yourself short of face scrub, shampoo, and so on is not exactly fun. But fret not, because there are plenty beauty tips that substitute commercial products with everyday items you can easily find. Oh, and by the way, some of these might work out for guys as well… ^^

First up, you can treat puffy eyes (which might happen when you’re pulling all-nighters while on assignment somewhere far from home) using a teaspoon. Just put the spoon in the fridge for about five minutes, then put it on your eyes. Or you could also try slices of cucumber or potato.

Whether you’re playing on the beach during your vacation or trudging through muddy trails during an outbound program, your nails will take a lot of punishment. So, slice a lemon in two, and then dip your fingers inside until the entire nail on all your fingers enter. Keep it there for 10 minutes or so to help strengthen your nails.

And talking about beaches, sand and water can be used as a healthy and natural body scrub. Well, as long as the sand is clean, that is…

Also, did you use waterproof makeup since you’ll be swimming in the ocean (or at least the hotel pool)? Well, just remember that if your run out of makeup remover, you can use olive oil instead. Not only is olive oil much gentler, it’s also hydrating and contains a lot of vitamins.

Now, this last one might not count as ‘emergency’ use, but I just couldn’t resist including it in this post. Basically, you can use strawberries to whiten your teeth. Just mash a strawberry into a paste, put it on your toothbrush, and then brush like usual. It’s important that your rinse your mouth thoroughly afterwards and that you don’t do this every day, however. See, it’s the acidity of strawberries that works in this case, which can also damage your teeth if applied to often. Still, after a couple of times using this treatment, you’ll notice the results… ^^
