Have you ever had somebody tell you that bras can be bad for you? Well, there’s more than just a bit of truth in that. Especially, that is, if you’re wearing one that’s too tight for you… and up to 70 percent of women are believed to wear the wrong bra size.
So, what kind of health problems does an ill-fitting bra trigger? The most common is back and neck pain, followed by breathing problems, skin irritation and fungal infections, and finally circulation problems.
But most of this is pretty much common knowledge. What you probably don’t know is that bras can also mess with your sleep.
You’ve probably heard this one as well: don’t wear a bra when sleeping at night. As it happens, this isn’t just about comfort or better circulation, but about melatonin—a hormone that’s usually associated with skin color, but actually plays a role in managing your sleep patterns as well. Wearing a constricting bra lowers your melatonin levels, which makes it hard to sleep… and we all know what this leads to, no? ^^
