To be perfectly honest, my vacation this time was more or less a spur of the moment kind of decision. What started off as idle browsing quickly turned into actual planning after I saw the great discounts that were available. In hindsight, though, those discounts shouldn’t have come as a surprise: It’s the low season for tourism in Bali right now. But discounts aren’t the only advantage…

The biggest plus point, at least for somebody like me who’s on a quest for rest and relaxation, is that the island is rather uncrowded—especially compared to how things are around July and August or at the end of the year.

Sure, there are plenty of tourists, but you won’t encounter throngs of tour groups clogging the sidewalks, shops, and restaurants. So, moving around and sightseeing is a relatively painless endeavor.

What’s more, you get a wider selection of rooms at your hotel, and you rarely have to worry about extra services like free shuttles to shopping destinations being fully booked days ahead.

On the flip side, the weather isn’t as nice as during the high seasons, and some shops even close early due to the lack of customers. But all in all, it’s been a great experience…
