Shopping Time!

comment(s)

Say what you will about relaxing during the holidays, but shopping can serve as a very effective form of stress therapy. Thankfully, the area around my hotel is littered with small boutiques, art shops, and minimarkets offering various trinkets as well as the usual snacks and drinks. So, I had quite an enjoyable time exploring…

Still, nothing really beats spending a day wandering around Kuta…

There are at least two malls that I stumbled upon. Yes, you don’t have to go to Bali to find modern shopping malls, but there’s something different about browsing through racks of clothing while the ocean is fully visible through the windows. Besides, while the setting might be pretty typical, the wares on display are anything but typical. Plenty of traditional handcrafts sit beside modern fashion items, which are pretty atypical themselves as most shops are also geared towards foreign customers.

Another plus point of shopping malls: air conditioning…

After that, it was time to look at the real gems of Kuta: the small specialty shops strewn between all the restaurants, cafes, and hotels. So far today I’ve scored an amazing broken white cardigan, a nice pair of boots, as well as belts and T-shirts.

Yes, all of that took quite a bite from my savings, but it was more than worth it… ^^
