Another year over, which also means another year older… I mean, let’s face it, we’re not getting any younger, ladies. But of course, there’s an easy and proven way to keep your body and spirit active and youthful well into old age: learn something new—as in something completely new—every year.

Scientifically speaking, you’ll be firing up parts of your brain that you rarely use. Practically speaking, it’ll be fun, and you might just find your life’s calling. Don’t know where to begin? Well, here are some basic ideas:

- Go to a major outdoor goods store. Some of them are meeting points for outdoor activity clubs like hiking or rock climbing. Yes, rock climbing… because, why not?

- Learn to play a musical instrument. Already know how to play one? Then pick another…

- Do you like going to the beach? Sign up for a scuba-diving class…

- Teach yourself how to knit or crochet by looking up tutorial videos on YouTube. No, seriously: plenty of people do that…

- Study software coding. No, you don’t need a degree in computer science or informatics to do that. Just visit a website like Codecademy and you’re all set… ^^
