Early mornings are, for quite a lot of people, one of the hardest parts of a typical working day. However, what we do during that short period of time determines how we’ll perform—and also how we look!—for the rest of the day.

So, with that in mind, here are some morning habits that you really, really should stop…

Just 5 More Minutes!
This is probably the most common wake-up habit… especially if you know how to set up your alarm’s or smartphone’s snooze feature. Problem is, those several extra minutes spent waiting for the alarm to go off again won’t really help you, and will instead make you groggier. So, set your alarm for when you really want to make up, and don’t try to haggle with it…

Skipping Breakfast
Breakfast is the meal that will kick start your metabolism for the whole day. You don’t really need a complete meal in the morning, but always try to start off with something healthy: fruit or yogurt is a nice option.

Skipping Moisturizer
It’s easy to forget about moisturizer when you’re rushing to get out of the door as fast as you can… but then you’d risk having to go through the day with dry, flaky skin. One way to make the process more comfortable (and thus, hopefully, less likely to be forgettable) is to switch to gel moisturizers instead of the heavier lotions and creams.

This one also applies to sunscreen (which you should really consider applying year-round).

Putting on makeup under less-than-ideal lighting conditions
Applying just about any kind of cosmetic that has a color (blush, foundation, and so on… basically everything) should be done in a well-lit area. So, turn on the lights, so you don’t end up scaring away clients and colleagues alike… ;)
