Veggies for your Skin

Beautiful, gorgeous skin depends on a lot of things: immaculate skincare, picking the right beauty products (and applying them properly, of course), a good cleaning routine, and so on. Ah, but how about nutrition? Well, nutrition is important... but that’s more about your health in general, right? Well, yes and no: there are also quite a few plants out there with some extra benefits just for your skin. What kind of vegetables are we talking about? Read on, ladies...

Peppers, specifically: red and yellow ones. The carotenoids in these vegies are good for fighting inflammation, while their high vitamin C content can boost production of collagen—which, in turn, can suppress lines and wrinkles.

Mushrooms (this is still considered a vegetable, no?) helps protect your skin from the sun. It has high levels of selenium, which help control the damage caused by free radicals triggered by UVA and UVB rays.

Napa cabbage, which is high in zinc, can help soothe acne breakouts.

Spinach is a great source of antioxidants. Same thing with soy beans. Both are useful against hyperpigmentation—dark areas on the skin or nails caused by an increase in melanin.

Carrots have an abundance of beta-carotene, which promotes healthy and clear skin.

And finally, we have another source of antioxidants: beets. Now, these root vegetables contain anthocyanins, which is basically one of the most powerful antioxidants.
