Earrings 101

A woman might leave the house without a ring, necklace, or bracelet; but most women will almost always be wearing a pair of earrings, no? Earrings are essentially the most basic jewelry piece, and they’re always the right fit. Still, when it comes to picking the right pair of earrings—whether for yourself or as a gift—there are some things you might want to consider...

Now, to make this guide a bit easier to follow, we’re going to look at the three basic earring types:

1

1. Studs
Small, easy to wear, and can go with cocktail dresses and casual outfits alike. If you’re looking for a particularly fashionable or trendy option, pick studs with Princess-cut diamonds. For a more classic look, Brilliant Round diamonds (or pearls) can offer a better match.

2. Hoops
These earrings have a particularly feminine vibe, and you’ll want at least two or three pairs so you can rotate them. When picking a new pair of hoops, think about what other jewelry pieces you might wear—particularly in terms of the precious metal on those pieces.

3. Drops
The third and final option is also the most elegant, as it sways in step with your movement. Furthermore, drop earrings offer the widest possibility of design variety... so, this is definitely a great choice for the more daring among us who like to experiment with various styles.
